Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in conjunction with the Air Component, have lawfully engaged and neutralized nine individuals identified as members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, including two of their senior field commanders, within Borno State.
According to a reliable military source who briefed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the operations, conducted between August 21 and 22, 2025, successfully thwarted imminent terrorist offensives in the Bita and Wulgo areas.
The deceased commanders were identified as Abu Nazir, designated Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, designated Munzir of Koloram. The source confirmed that they were neutralized in the course of a sustained armed confrontation at the Wulgo axis.
Items recovered from the scene of engagement included assault rifles of the AK-47 type, significant quantities of ammunition, and six motorcycles previously employed by the insurgents in their operations.
The Defence Headquarters, in its response, formally commended the troops for their professionalism and operational effectiveness, while urging the continuation of robust counter-insurgency measures notwithstanding the complex challenges confronting ongoing security operations in the region.#newsafro_
