The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and killing of a five-year-old boy, identified as Master Obodoagu Wisdom, who was the second cousin of one of the suspects.
The suspects — Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom, 18, and Sunday Michael, 24, a security guard — were apprehended on August 11 and 12, 2025, following intelligence reports obtained after ransom demands were made, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
Investigations revealed that the prime suspect, Wisdom, conspired with his accomplice to demand a ransom of ₦1 million from the victim’s father. When the ransom was not paid, he allegedly murdered the child and buried him in a bush near their residence in Okinitor, Amankwo Ngwo, Udi Local Government Area.
“The child was first reported missing on July 26, 2025. Investigations further showed that the prime suspect used his accomplice to make ransom demands in order to conceal his identity. When the ransom was not met, the suspect murdered the child and buried him nearby,” Ndukwe stated.
Police reports confirm that the suspects confessed to the crime and led operatives to the site, where the victim’s body was exhumed in the presence of medical personnel, including a doctor who formally certified him dead.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, extended his condolences to the grieving family and assured the public that the suspects would be arraigned upon conclusion of investigations.#newsafro_
