On Monday, Ms. Dolly Parton, aged 79, formally announced that she will return to the stage this December for a limited engagement on the Las Vegas Strip. The six-show residency, titled Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, is scheduled to take place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, commencing on December 4 and concluding on December 13, coinciding with the National Finals Rodeo.
Ms. Parton—widely regarded as a national cultural icon and currently one accolade away from achieving EGOT status—expressed her enthusiasm in an official statement, remarking, “To say I’m excited would be an understatement.”
In a public statement accompanying the announcement, Ms. Dolly Parton remarked: “I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there. I’m looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there!”
Additionally, through her official Instagram account—where she maintains a following of approximately 26.2 million users—Ms. Parton wrote: “Grab your rhinestones, Vegas is calling!”
Among the many notable responses to her announcement was a comment from Ms. Jessica Simpson, who has previously referred to Ms. Parton as her “style icon.” Eager to attend the concert series, Ms. Simpson replied: “Ohhhh I need to be there!”
Ms. Dolly Parton is set to perform a selection of her most iconic songs—spanning a career of more than seven decades—during her upcoming limited engagement in Las Vegas. The setlist is expected to include celebrated hits such as 9 to 5, Jolene, I Will Always Love You, and Coat of Many Colors.
Tickets for this highly anticipated event will become available to the public on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The engagement offers four distinct VIP packages, which may include exclusive experiences such as a personal photograph with Ms. Parton, a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue, and access to a pre-show reception at her designated “Rhinestone Lounge.”
The 11-time Grammy Award-winning artist has not undertaken a full-scale tour since her 64-date Pure & Simple Tour, which concluded approximately nine years ago. Additionally, Ms. Parton has not maintained a Las Vegas residency since completing a 50-show run at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in 1993.
This return to the Las Vegas stage follows a period of personal loss for Ms. Parton, who was recently bereaved by the passing of her husband, Mr. Carl Thomas Dean, on March 3, at the age of 82. The cause of death was not disclosed. The couple had been married for 58 years.
Ms. Parton first met Mr. Dean in 1964 at a laundromat in Nashville—the day after relocating from her hometown of Sevierville to begin her music career. At the time, she was 18 years old, and Mr. Dean was a reclusive, retired asphalt road-paver.
Just three days after Mr. Dean’s passing, Ms. Parton released an emotionally resonant tribute song titled If You Hadn’t Been There, dedicated to his memory.
In parallel with her live performances, Ms. Parton is continuing to develop her Threads: My Songs In Symphony multimedia orchestral storytelling experience, which will next be presented by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra this coming Sunday. The production is scheduled to tour multiple cities through May 2026.
Furthermore, the Dollywood founder’s biographical stage production, Dolly: An Original Musical, is set to begin previews on July 18 at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University in Nashville. The limited engagement will run from August 8 through August 17, and is widely viewed as a prelude to a potential Broadway debut.#newsafro_
