Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, made a heartwarming gesture during the festive season by reaching out to the less privileged residents of the Rumudara community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The celebrated gospel musician and her spouse provided essential food items such as rice, garri, tomato paste, and yams to the elderly, single mothers, and disadvantaged families in the area.
In addition to food donations, the couple distributed cash gifts and fabrics, bringing joy and relief to those in need. This thoughtful gesture aimed to ensure that the families could enjoy a brighter Christmas and New Year despite the ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria.
The outreach event, which took place on December 30, 2024, was organized by the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation, a charitable arm of the Grace and Truth Nation music label, co-owned by Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa.
In a statement about the initiative, Uzochikwa emphasized the central message of Christ’s love, citing John 3:16 as a reminder that giving is intrinsic to love. He said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Uzochikwa further explained that the foundation’s mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ with those struggling to meet basic needs. He highlighted that while food assistance is crucial, the foundation aims to empower beneficiaries by establishing sustainable means of income, helping them become self-sufficient and improving their long-term well-being.
