Angelina Jolie’s appearance alongside her son, Knox Jolie-Pitt, at the Governors Awards reportedly raised concerns for Brad Pitt, with insiders suggesting that the actress leverages public outings with her children to provoke her ex-husband.
The mother-and-son duo made a rare public appearance on Sunday at the Ray Dolby Ballroom, mingling with Hollywood’s elite at the high-profile event. Jolie, 48, and her 16-year-old son captured attention effortlessly, with Knox, now noticeably taller than his mother, joining her for red carpet photographs.
In an exclusive statement to Newsafro.com, a source claimed that Brad Pitt found the timing of Angelina Jolie’s public outing with their son Knox “suspicious,” given the backdrop of their protracted divorce proceedings.
“Brad only gets to see his children when they appear on the red carpet with their mom, and the timing of this could not be more suspect, especially since it was just decided that he and Angie are going to trial,” the insider remarked.
As reported by Newsafro.com last week, the former couple’s protracted legal dispute—dubbed the “War of the Rosé”—is set to escalate, with a trial scheduled for next year.
The decision to proceed to trial follows a judge’s recent dismissal of Angelina Jolie’s motion to throw out Brad Pitt’s lawsuit concerning their French vineyard, Château Miraval. The estate, known for producing award-winning sparkling rosé, remains a focal point of their contentious legal battle.
In the aftermath of their split, Jolie has faced accusations of attempting to alienate Pitt from their six children. A source alleged, “She seems intent on getting under Brad’s skin after his recent legal victory, and involving Knox in this way is unusual. Knox has no interest in Hollywood and no contact with Brad.”
The insider further claimed, “It’s upsetting for Brad that Angelina has influenced their children against him, especially when they were too young to form their own opinions. However, he holds out hope that, in time, his children will return to his life.”
Conversely, a source close to Jolie defended her, stating that Knox attended the event of his own accord to support his mother.
An insider clarified that Knox’s attendance at the awards was entirely his choice, stating, “Knox chose to attend the event with his mom, and they enjoyed a pleasant mother-son evening. Their decision to attend together had nothing to do with Brad.”
Absent from Sunday’s outing were Knox’s siblings—Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (17), and his twin sister, Vivienne.
Court filings from May at the Los Angeles Superior Court have added to the ongoing controversy. Former family bodyguard Tony Webb, a former British SAS soldier who worked for the couple for over two decades, alleged in legal documents that one of his colleagues overheard Jolie encouraging her children to avoid Pitt during custody visits. These claims, disclosed in documents tied to the contentious “War of the Rosé,” shed light on the couple’s acrimonious battle over Jolie’s rights to sell her shares of their French vineyard and estate, Château Miraval.
In 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her $62 million stake in Château Miraval to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, a move Brad Pitt contends violated their agreement to grant each other the right of first refusal.
Jolie recently sought to dismiss Pitt’s claims regarding their alleged verbal agreement for equal ownership of the vineyard. She argued that any such agreement was voided when Pitt requested she sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) concerning their marriage. Both parties appear intent on escalating the dispute.
An insider familiar with the case told Newsafro.com, “It’s already been ugly, but it’s about to get even uglier. Angelina seems determined to retaliate against Brad and settle lingering personal grievances.”
The legal battle is proving to be extraordinarily costly, with expenses on both sides already amounting to millions of dollars.
