Nollywood actor Charles Olumo, also known as Baba Agbako, has passed away at the age of 101. His death was announced by Bolaji Amusan, the president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), via social media. While the cause of death has not been disclosed, the announcement comes after a remarkable career spanning nearly nine decades.
Charles Olumo, born on February 19, 1923, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, started acting at the age of seven and became known for his performances in numerous Yoruba films, including classics like Taxi Driver and Saworoide. He celebrated his 100th birthday in July 2023, a milestone attended by many notable figures from the Nigerian film industry.
The passing of Charles Olumo, a beloved Nollywood actor known as Baba Agbako, was confirmed in a statement by Bolaji Amusan, the president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN). Amusan announced the news on Instagram, stating, “Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024.” He noted that details regarding the burial arrangements would be shared later.

Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko also expressed his condolences following the death of Charles Olumo, affectionately known as Baba Agbako. He posted a heartfelt message on social media saying, “Good night ooo, Baba Charles. a.k.a Agbako, 101 years, ba wasa ba.
