A ‘gunman’ has been arrested following a new attempt on Donald Trump’s life, which led to the ex-President being urgently escorted to safety on a golf course. The Secret Service fired at the suspect, who was hiding in a bush. The pro-Ukraine suspect’s chilling reaction to the police has been revealed.
Donald Trump narrowly avoided a second assassination attempt in as many months yesterday when Secret Service agents fired on a would-be shooter concealed in the bushes while the former president was playing golf in Florida.
Agents responded to a man seen pointing a rifle through a fence at Trump’s private golf club in West Palm Beach, located a few hundred yards from the former president. The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, fled when agents fired at his position, abandoning his rifle and other items. He was later apprehended. The FBI has labeled the incident as an apparent attempted assassination of the GOP nominee.
This incident follows a recent attack in July, where Trump was grazed by a bullet when a gunman accessed an unsecured roof at his Pennsylvania rally, resulting in a barrage of bullets that killed one supporter and injured two others.
Trump expressed gratitude on social media following an incident at Trump International, commending the Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, and all law enforcement for their efforts. He described their response as “absolutely outstanding” and conveyed pride in being an American.
The West Palm Beach Police Department was alerted to gunshots fired by the Secret Service at about 1:30 PM local time yesterday. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw reported that the Secret Service agent spotted the alleged gunman, Routh, hiding 300-500 yards from Trump, who was golfing. The agent, who monitors the area ahead of Trump for threats, saw a rifle barrel through the fence and fired at Routh. The suspect fled but later surrendered to law enforcement.
