A bombshell new poll indicates a significant shift in the race between Trump and Kamala Harris following their recent debate.
Recent polling shows that Vice President Kamala Harris has gained a five-point lead over Donald Trump among registered voters following the presidential debate.
The two candidates faced off for the first time on Tuesday during the ABC News debate in Philadelphia, spending over an hour and a half debating topics including abortion, the economy, and foreign policy.
A snap poll by Newsafro.com concluded that Harris was the debate’s winner and appeared the most presidential, whereas Trump was perceived as the most aggressive.
Subsequent polling from Yahoo News/YouGov reveals that Harris has gained a five-point lead over Trump among registered voters in a head-to-head matchup. The poll, which surveyed 1,755 U.S. adults from September 11-13, found that 50 percent of respondents would vote for Harris, while 45 percent would support Trump.
Before the debate, Harris trailed Trump by 9 points among independent voters, with 35 percent supporting her compared to 44 percent for Trump. The latest poll now shows Harris leading this group by 10 points, with 47 percent to Trump’s 37 percent.
While national polls show Harris gaining the lead, a new poll of the pivotal swing state of Michigan presents challenges for the vice president as she seeks to solidify the Democratic ‘blue wall.’
The InsiderAdvantage poll reveals Donald Trump leading by one point in Michigan, with 49 percent to Harris’s 48 percent. This indicates an exceptionally close race in this critical state for Democrats’ path to the White House.
The InsiderAdvantage poll, conducted with 800 likely voters on September 11 and 12, follows the presidential debate.
After publicly discouraging calls for another debate with the vice president, Trump unequivocally rejected the idea on Thursday.
“In a prizefight, the first words from a defeated fighter are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH.’ Polls clearly indicate that I won the debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she promptly requested a second debate,” Trump wrote.
“She and Crooked Joe have ruined our country, allowing millions of criminals and mentally unstable individuals to enter the USA unchecked and unvetted, while inflation bankrupts our middle class,” he added.
The former president continued, “Everyone is aware of this and the other issues caused by Kamala and Joe. These matters were thoroughly discussed in the first debate with Joe and the second debate with Comrade Harris.”
