At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a fire incident along the Epe–Ijebu-Ode Expressway in the Eredo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State resulted in the destruction of five vehicles. According to reports, a 45,000-litre diesel tanker, bearing registration number KWK 833 SK, lost control while ascending a hilly section of the expressway, overturned, and subsequently ignited, spilling its contents onto the roadway.
The fire spread rapidly, engulfing four other vehicles that were parked nearby, identified as a Mazda, a Nissan, a Honda Accord, and a Toyota Hilux. Eyewitness accounts corroborated the sequence of events and described significant property damage.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly, containing the blaze and preventing further damage. No casualties were reported. Investigations into the precise cause of the tanker’s loss of control remain ongoing.#newsafro_
