The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has officially received the Letters of Credentials of Ethiopia’s newly appointed Permanent Representative to the African Union, marking the start of her diplomatic assignment at the continental body.
The new envoy, Lemlem Fiseha Minale, presented her credentials during a formal meeting at the African Union headquarters, where she was welcomed by the AUC leadership and congratulated on her appointment.
During the ceremony, Youssouf commended Ethiopia’s continued engagement with the African Union and expressed confidence that the new representative’s experience would further strengthen cooperation between Addis Ababa and the AU. He also highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration in advancing the Union’s priorities and addressing emerging regional challenges.
The two sides later held discussions on current regional and global developments, with both emphasizing the need for closer coordination on issues affecting the continent. The AUC Chair reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to work closely with Ethiopia in advancing shared goals.
Amb. Minale, in turn, conveyed greetings from the Ethiopian government and reaffirmed her country’s strong commitment to supporting the African Union’s agenda. She pledged to work closely with the Commission to deepen cooperation and strengthen Ethiopia’s role within the continental body.
