A not-for-profit organization, Liberty Career Academy (LCA), has reaffirmed its commitment to equipping teenagers and young adults with the tools necessary to make informed career decisions and to realize their full potential through structured mentorship and practical engagement with industry experts.
This reaffirmation was made at the Career and Stewardship Bootcamp 9.0, convened on Thursday and Friday at the SNUG Banquet Hall, Yaba, Lagos.
The program recorded the participation of over 200 youths between the ages of 14 and 21 and featured lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with seasoned professionals drawn from multiple sectors, including journalism, finance, medicine, engineering, and education.
In his remarks, Mr. Gbenga Rufai, Founder and President of Liberty Career Academy, stated that the initiative was conceived to assist young persons in attaining clarity in their career pursuits. He observed that what commenced in 2017 as a modest bootcamp of 30 participants has now expanded significantly, with nearly 200 attendees at the present edition. He further affirmed that the demonstrable progress achieved by past participants in their academic and career endeavors has provided the impetus for the continued growth of the program.
Similarly, the Manager for Programs and Administration at LCA, Mr. Samson Agbono, emphasized that the bootcamp was designed to aid teenagers and young adults in discovering their innate strengths, thereby positioning them to evolve into responsible and valuable members of society.
A key highlight of the event on Thursday was an address delivered by Mr. Samson Folarin, award-winning journalist and Editor of PUNCH Weekend Titles, on the theme: “Identifying and Leveraging Your Uniqueness for Life and Career Success.”
In his presentation, Mr. Folarin admonished participants to embrace their individuality rather than conform to imitation, stressing that true success derives from the recognition and deliberate cultivation of one’s distinctive abilities. He observed: “If you do not discover and deploy your area of dominance, you will continue to struggle, because where you are is not your natural habitat.”
In addition to Mr. Folarin’s address, other facilitators led interactive sessions on contemporary and emerging themes, including Artificial Intelligence and the future of work, as well as essential principles of personal development, resilience, and leadership.
The Bootcamp concluded with a collective charge to participants to focus on the development of their inherent strengths, avoid undue distractions, and utilize mentorship as a catalyst for achieving sustainable impact in their respective careers and communities.#newsafro_
