Ruth Langsford has, for the first time since publicly announcing her unexpected separation from Eamonn Holmes last year, addressed the details of their divorce in a recent interview.
Ruth Langsford, 64, has addressed the complexities of her separation from Eamonn Holmes, describing their breakup—following 14 years of marriage and 27 years together—as “difficult.” She also reflected on her ability to move forward in the aftermath.
Following their split, Eamonn publicly confirmed his new relationship with 43-year-old dating counsellor Katie Alexander, while Ruth has remained single.
In an interview with woman&home, Ruth expressed a determination to focus on the future and an openness to the possibility of meeting someone new.
When asked about her current state of mind, she stated: “I’m alright. Relationship breakdowns—whether in marriage, friendship, or otherwise—are always difficult, but you have to deal with them and move on. You can either allow yourself to fall apart or choose to pick yourself up and carry on with life. It’s a choice.”
Ruth, who shares a 22-year-old son, Jack, with Eamonn, further acknowledged: “I’m not delighted that my marriage has ended, but I have accepted it. Now, I am embracing the fact that I am single and able to make decisions solely for myself.”
Former This Morning host Ruth Langsford, who co-presented the Friday edition of the show alongside her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes, has addressed the challenges of experiencing a breakup under public scrutiny.
She stated: “The dissolution of a relationship is inherently difficult for anyone. Divorce is an especially painful process, but most individuals do not have to endure it under the constant gaze of public opinion, with people commenting, speculating, and writing about every aspect of their personal lives.”
Recognizing the realities of her profession, she added: “That is simply the nature of my job. I have always accepted that, and if you are unable to cope with such scrutiny, this is not the right career.”
On adjusting to life post-separation, Ruth noted: “I am comfortable being on my own, but not indefinitely. When you are in a relationship, you might appreciate the occasional weekend to yourself. However, when you realize that might be your reality every weekend, it presents a different perspective.”
She also disclosed that the emotional toll of the divorce had contributed to weight loss, while acknowledging that a recent hormone evaluation and potential completion of menopause may have also played a role.
She explained: “I have lost weight—undoubtedly, the divorce has been a factor. However, I also underwent a hormone check and rebalancing, which proved beneficial. Hopefully, this could also indicate that I am nearing the end of menopause.”#newsafro_
