The Houston rapper confirmed the news to TMZ Hip Hop, revealing that on New Year’s Day, he received an early morning call informing him that his ex-partner, Heather Cuevas, had been arrested in El Centro, California, on charges of child endangerment. This arrest led Trae to finally locate his daughter. He immediately flew from Texas to San Diego and drove over 100 miles to a small town near the U.S.-Mexico border, where he was joyfully reunited with Truth. Trae also mentioned that Cuevas would soon face extradition back to Texas.
The emotional reunion between Trae Tha Truth and his daughter, Truth, was shared on Instagram, where a video captured the heartwarming moment of her walking into the room after months apart. In another clip, the pair smiles together as they head towards an awaiting vehicle. Trae, who was granted full custody of Truth, had reported that his daughter went missing in August following a visit with her mother, Heather Cuevas. The visit, meant to last two days, extended as Cuevas moved the child between various homes with assistance from her grandmother and others.
During his search, Trae enlisted help from the Black and Missing Foundation and a private investigator, who eventually traced Cuevas to California. Now that he’s been reunited with Truth, Trae expressed his gratitude and emotion, saying he plans to take things one day at a time. He shared a heartfelt caption with the video: “I have to let the world know GOD IS THE ONLY REASON I’M REUNITED WIT MY TWIN AND HEART.”
