Jennifer Lopez stars in the new trailer for Unstoppable, which comes after her performance in the film was snubbed at the 2025 Golden Globe nominations. The teaser was released by Amazon Prime Video on Thursday, just ahead of the film’s debut on the streaming platform on January 16.
In the biographical sports drama, Lopez portrays the devoted single mother of Anthony Robles (played by Jharrel Jerome), a real-life wrestler who was born with one leg and went on to become an NCAA Champion. Despite the recent Golden Globe snub, Lopez’s performance is generating significant interest as the film prepares for its release.
In the Unstoppable trailer, Jennifer Lopez’s character, Judy Robles, delivers an inspiring message to her son, telling him, “A dreamer is only as big as the dreams they chase,” while passionately cheering him on from the stands at his wrestling matches. She encourages Anthony, played by Jharrel Jerome, to continue pursuing his college wrestling dreams, reminding him that he is “unstoppable” despite his disability.
The trailer also highlights intense scenes between Lopez and Bobby Cannavale, who portrays Anthony’s abusive stepfather. These emotionally charged moments add depth to the film, as Lopez’s character navigates her challenges and supports her son’s journey to success.
Unstoppable also stars two-time Golden Globe winner Don Cheadle, who makes frequent appearances in the trailer as Robles’ wrestling coach. The film is based on Anthony Robles’ 2012 autobiography of the same name and chronicles his life as a wrestler born with one leg who won a national championship in 2011 while competing at Arizona State University.
Alongside Robles, Lopez’s ex-husband Ben Affleck, who she filed for divorce from in August, co-produced the film through his production company, Artists Equity, which he founded with Matt Damon in 2022. The film had a limited theatrical release last month, including a disappointing opening weekend in the UK, but will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting January 16.
Lopez’s performance in Unstoppable was met with critical acclaim when the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. In an interview with Variety, Lopez reflected on her connection with the character of Judy, sharing their shared passion for family. “We were kindred spirits,” she said. “We both grew up Latina in this country. We both had children and have hopes and dreams for them.”
Lopez continued her reflection on the role, saying, “We both had challenging relationships, which left us holding our families together.” Despite her passion for portraying Judy Robles, Lopez’s performance in Unstoppable was notably snubbed when the Golden Globe nominations were announced. She was not included in the Best Supporting Actress category, which went to Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave), Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Selena Gomez (Emilia Perez), and Zoe Saldana (Emilia Perez).
However, Lopez didn’t let the Golden Globe snub affect her holiday celebrations. She took her family and friends to Aspen, Colorado, for a weeks-long getaway. This marked her first Christmas and New Year’s since her split from Ben Affleck four months ago after their two-year marriage.
The On the Floor hitmaker made a statement on Instagram on Thursday, sharing a sultry video in a black string bikini with gold accents that highlighted her toned abs. She was styled with heavy makeup and gold jewelry, further showcasing her glamorous look.
