The film Unstoppable, featuring Jennifer Lopez as Judy Robles, the mother of wrestler Anthony Robles, has experienced a significant underperformance at the UK box office. The production, starring the 55-year-old actor and singer, generated a modest £3,112 during its opening weekend, ranking as the 55th most-watched film upon its release. Following this lackluster debut, the film was subsequently removed from cinemas after just one week.
Following its disappointing performance at the UK box office, Unstoppable was removed from cinemas in its second week, as reported by The Sun. This setback marks another challenge in a turbulent year for Jennifer Lopez. Her most recent album, This Is Me… Now, debuted at a modest number 55 on the UK Albums Chart and number 38 on the US Billboard 200.
Additionally, in May, Lopez canceled her This Is Me… Live tour, later revealing in divorce filings that she and Ben Affleck had separated the previous month.
Unstoppable, a sports drama starring Jennifer Lopez, is scheduled for a limited theatrical release beginning December 6, with plans to transition to a streaming platform on January 16 of the following year. The film chronicles the life of wrestler Anthony Robles, who, despite being born with one leg, won a national championship in 2011 while competing for Arizona State University. Alongside Lopez, the cast includes Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Don Cheadle.
Earlier this year, Lopez canceled her This Is Me… Live tour, expressing profound regret to her fans. At the time, she described herself as “heartsick and devastated” for having to step away, citing her desire to prioritize her children. A public statement confirmed her temporary withdrawal from the spotlight to spend the summer with her family.
In a November appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Lopez reflected on the decision, describing the time spent with her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme—whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony—as one of the most rewarding periods of her life. She also expressed her apologies to fans, recounting a poignant moment when she met a supporter who had purchased a ticket to one of the canceled performances.
During her Graham Norton Show appearance, Jennifer Lopez recounted a heartfelt encounter with a fan who approached her and said, “I had tickets to come and see you.” When she apologized for canceling her tour, the fan reassured her, saying, “Don’t say sorry, we love you.” Lopez admitted she “started crying straight away.” The moment turned even more emotional when it was revealed that the fan was in the studio audience. Surprised, she exclaimed, “Was that you? I don’t believe it,” before embracing him and expressing her gratitude with a heartfelt hug.
Beyond her career developments, Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August, ending months of speculation about their relationship. The filing coincided with the two-year anniversary of their wedding, held at Affleck’s estate in Savannah, Georgia, on August 20, 2022.
The couple had captured public attention in 2021 when they rekindled their romance nearly 17 years after calling off their initial engagement and postponing their planned September 2003 wedding.
