Maria Avila, the former housekeeper suing Chris Brown over an alleged dog attack, is now asking a judge to block certain evidence from being shown in court as their legal battle heats up ahead of trial.
According to newly filed court documents, Avila claims the defense may try to introduce statements suggesting she received money from a member of Brown’s team to help cover medical expenses after the alleged attack. The man at the center of the claim, Emil Lewis, reportedly stated that he provided “tens of thousands of dollars” toward her medical bills.
Avila, however, disputes that assertion and argues the alleged payments have nothing to do with the core issues of the case. In the filing, she says the evidence would not prove whether the attack actually happened, how severe her injuries were, or whether Brown should ultimately be held responsible.
She also argues there is no witness with direct personal knowledge who can confirm such payments were ever made, insisting the information would only unfairly influence the jury against her.
The lawsuit stems from claims that Brown’s dog viciously attacked Avila while she was working at his property, allegedly leaving her with severe facial injuries. She is seeking $90 million in damages and reportedly wants graphic photos of her injuries shown during trial.
Brown has denied wrongdoing and previously claimed that Avila provoked the dog before the incident occurred.
The trial is currently scheduled to begin on June 15.#newsafro_
