A Utah custody hearing involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-partner Dakota Mortensen has revealed serious findings about their past relationship, with a judge stating that both sides were involved in violent incidents.
During the proceedings, District Commissioner Russell Minas told the former couple that evidence showed “violence both ways,” highlighting the turbulent history between them as they continue to dispute custody of their two-year-old son.
As part of the ruling, the court granted mutual protective orders, requiring both Paul and Mortensen to stay at least 100 feet apart and avoid any form of contact outside of official court-related settings, including hearings and mediation sessions. Despite the restrictions, they are still required to appear in court and participate in custody-related processes.
The judge also addressed parenting arrangements, ordering that Paul’s time with her son be supervised for now. Any visitation will need to be approved in advance, with oversight from a guardian ad litem to ensure proper safeguards are in place.
Throughout the hearing, both sides presented serious allegations about their past relationship and co-parenting struggles, painting a picture of ongoing conflict and instability. The court emphasized the importance of cooperation moving forward, warning that their inability to manage conflict was creating a harmful dynamic.
Another custody hearing is scheduled for June 1, where further decisions about parenting time and long-term arrangements are expected to be considered as the case continues.#newsafro_
