Mickey Rourke is leaving his wild past behind and focusing on work, telling fans that his days of hotel room rampages are long over. Spotted at LAX on Saturday, the veteran actor expressed gratitude for being back on set and said he’s committed to staying professional as he returns to the big screen.
Rourke admitted that the last couple of decades weren’t his best, revealing that a psychiatrist once told him he “didn’t know how to take accountability for anything.” The actor credits guidance from a priest and personal reflection for helping him change his ways and approach life differently.
Despite a career that includes a Golden Globe, Rourke says he hasn’t yet made his best movie, hinting that his finest work may still be ahead.
The actor has also dealt with personal challenges, including facing eviction over nearly $60,000 in unpaid rent, which he says was due to a rodent infestation.
Currently, Rourke is back on set filming Sol Hershowitz’s Guide to Extraterrestrial Life, one of his lead roles. He says his focus moving forward is simple: work hard and “kick some ass,” leaving the chaotic days of his past firmly behind.#newsafro_
