Leonardo DiCaprio made an unannounced appearance at the 2026 Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards, held on Saturday evening at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
The 51-year-old actor attracted public and media attention for his notably youthful appearance, arriving in a minimalist black suit with matching shirt and dress shoes. His dark hair was styled slicked back, and he wore a neatly trimmed goatee.
DiCaprio attended the ceremony in his capacity as a presenter, taking the stage to confer the DGA Feature Film Medallion on director Paul Thomas Anderson. Anderson subsequently received the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for One Battle After Another.
While delivering his remarks, DiCaprio praised Anderson for providing Los Angeles with “a cinematic identity that feels almost forensic,” according to reporting by The Hollywood Reporter.
The ceremony was hosted by Kumail Nanjiani and presided over for the first time by Christopher Nolan, who assumed leadership of the Directors Guild in September. In a January statement announcing the nominees, Nolan commended the directors for their dedication to the craft of filmmaking and expressed the Guild’s anticipation in celebrating their work.
Earlier in January, DiCaprio also drew significant attention during the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, where his animated and expressive reactions became widely circulated on social media. He attended that event alongside the cast and crew of One Battle After Another, which secured both a Best Actor nomination and a Best Picture win.
During the Golden Globes ceremony, which aired live on CBS, DiCaprio was seated next to his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, and co-star Sean Penn. Despite his reputation for privacy, he emerged as an unexpected focal point of the evening, frequently captured making expressive gestures and facial reactions that resonated positively with audiences and fans.#newsafro_
