Mickey Rourke is reportedly exercising discretion in relation to prospective professional engagements notwithstanding his ongoing financial difficulties and a pending eviction dispute concerning his Los Angeles residence.
According to statements attributed to his manager, Kimberly Hines, the 73-year-old Oscar-nominated actor has received multiple offers in recent days, including proposals involving independent film projects, photo shoots, live appearances, and autograph signings. Notwithstanding the volume of such offers, Rourke has allegedly declined to pursue them, citing personal and professional considerations.
Hines indicated that Rourke is prepared to accept only engagements that provide compensation and professional standing commensurate with that of a top-tier actor, reportedly seeking remuneration in the range customarily associated with A-list performers. She further stated that he intends to work exclusively with actors and directors of comparable stature and that she believes prioritizing high-quality projects will ultimately yield financial stability.
At present, Rourke is said to be residing temporarily at a West Hollywood hotel with his dogs, with arrangements reportedly in place for alternative accommodation in Los Angeles. His manager also confirmed that funds donated to a recently established $100,000 GoFundMe campaign—created to assist with his alleged rental arrears—will be returned to contributors, following Rourke’s public denunciation of the fundraiser as inappropriate and demeaning.
The fundraising initiative was launched after Rourke was allegedly served with a three-day notice to pay approximately $59,100 in outstanding rent or vacate the premises, pursuant to a complaint filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court by his landlord, Eric T. Goldie. Court filings further seek recovery of legal costs and termination of the remaining lease term. Rourke has reportedly disputed the circumstances surrounding the rental property, citing habitability concerns.
Hines subsequently clarified that the fundraiser was initiated by members of Rourke’s team with the intention of providing assistance, but acknowledged that the actor may not have fully understood the nature or scope of the campaign prior to its public launch. Following widespread media attention, Rourke publicly rejected the effort, instructed donors to seek refunds, and indicated his intention to consult legal counsel regarding the matter.
Rourke, whose career has spanned several decades and includes acclaimed performances in films such as The Wrestler, 9½ Weeks, Angel Heart, and Sin City, has previously acknowledged professional setbacks and challenges arising from past personal decisions. Despite these difficulties, his manager has expressed confidence in his ability to reestablish himself professionally, subject to his willingness to resume work under terms consistent with his standards and expectations.#newsafro_
