The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has mandated the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to conduct a formal investigation into multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries.
The directive follows widespread public outcry over allegations circulating on social media. On New Year’s Day, Pastor Okafor voluntarily stepped aside from his pastoral duties amid the controversy. Several women, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, have publicly accused him of sexual misconduct, manipulation, and related improprieties. Okafor had previously issued a public apology to Ogala during a church service, acknowledging past “mistakes” and seeking forgiveness.
The scandal intensified shortly after the pastor’s wedding to a woman identified as Pearl on December 16, 2025, attended by prominent clerics. Initially, the Lagos Police Command indicated that no arrests could be made due to the absence of formal complaints. However, following renewed inquiries and requests to the commissioner, the CP has now instructed SCID to summon Pastor Okafor for questioning and to interview alleged victims and witnesses to facilitate the investigation.
The allegations date back to 2017, with Ogala claiming that Okafor promised marriage multiple times while allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with her, sharing explicit photos and videos, and causing personal and financial harm. Ogala has filed a legal notice demanding N1 billion in damages, citing intimidation and coercion, including an alleged attempt by the pastor to pay her $10,000 to recant her claims. Additional women have since come forward with similar accusations, while some church members have dismissed the claims as extortion attempts.
SCID is now tasked with gathering statements, interviewing witnesses, and establishing the facts surrounding the allegations against Pastor Okafor.#newsafro_
