Actresses Kate Hudson, aged 46, and Naomi Watts, aged 57, reunited publicly on Wednesday evening at the Max Mara x Women in Film event held at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The appearance marks approximately twenty-two years since the two co-starred in the 2003 romantic comedy Le Divorce.
Ms. Hudson, best known for her roles in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Almost Famous, attended the event in a two-piece black ensemble featuring a cropped top and a floor-length maxi skirt. She accessorized with open-toe black heels, showcasing a dark pedicure, and completed the look with minimal jewelry.
Ms. Watts, an Academy Award-nominated actress recognized for The Impossible and Mulholland Drive, opted for a tailored, off-white cropped blazer with three-quarter sleeves, paired with coordinating trousers.
Photographs from the evening show the longtime friends posing together with beaming smiles. Ms. Hudson shared images from the event with her 19 million Instagram followers, captioning her post: “A night out with @maxmara.” Ms. Watts likewise shared photographs from the evening on her Instagram account, including one of herself and Ms. Hudson wearing sunglasses indoors, with the caption: “Sunglasses at night. Thanks @maxmara and @marcolin_eyewear for a great evening!”
The cocktail reception also featured appearances by actress Leslie Mann, aged 53, and her daughter Maude Apatow, aged 27, one of the evening’s honorees. Ms. Apatow received the Max Mara Face of the Future Award, recognizing her achievements as an actress, writer, and emerging director.
Ms. Apatow recently made her directorial debut with Poetic License, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September. The film, starring Ms. Mann, explores themes of friendship, rivalry, and emotional dependency, and features a cast notable for including several actors with familial connections in the entertainment industry.
In an interview with W Magazine published Friday, Ms. Apatow expressed gratitude for the opportunity to direct, stating: “There are so few female directors. I want to spend my life trying to figure out how to uplift other women.”
Additional honorees recognized during the WIF Honors ceremony included Jamie Lee Curtis, Tessa Thompson, and Judy Blume, each acknowledged for their contributions to film, literature, and advocacy for women in entertainment.#newsafro_
