Mr. Mbreye Kojo Baffoe, professionally known as Kojo Swain, has expressed that securing a recording contract, particularly with Lynx Entertainment, would represent both a significant career milestone and the realization of a personal aspiration.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz on Sunday, September 7, Mr. Swain stated:
“Getting signed would mean the world to me. I admire Richie Mensah and the Lynx team a lot, and it would be a dream come true to be part of that family. But beyond Lynx, I’m open to any record label that truly believes in my talent and shares my vision.”
Mr. Swain acknowledged his prior outreach to Mr. Richie Mensah through Instagram prior to the release of his debut EP, though he did not receive a response. He explained that he harbors no disappointment, noting that such figures are inundated with communications, and maintained optimism that, upon hearing his music directly, Mr. Mensah would recognize his potential.
Although he has not yet collaborated with established A-list artists, Mr. Swain articulated his desire to work with Mr. Kuami Eugene and Mr. Lasmid. He recounted having previously obtained Mr. Kuami Eugene’s contact information through an industry connection and sending a message, which remains unanswered, attributing the lack of response to the artist’s professional demands.
Mr. Swain recently experienced his first unplanned live performance when a routine visit to submit his music evolved into an opportunity to perform three songs from his debut In Love EP. He described the occasion as a confidence-building moment that reinforced his abilities as a performer.
The In Love EP, released two weeks ago, comprises four tracks and marks Mr. Swain’s transition from rap to singing, a shift encouraged by a colleague, Nizzle. He reflected that, after approximately a decade of rapping, embracing his vocal talent has felt more authentic to his artistic identity.
Like many emerging artists, Mr. Swain noted the financial challenges of building a music career, highlighting that unlike established performers, upcoming acts often incur costs to secure performance opportunities. Despite such obstacles, he emphasized his commitment to consistency, brand development, and attracting the right support or investment to advance his music internationally.
Outside his musical endeavors, Mr. Swain is a trained accountant. He affirmed, however, that while accounting provides financial sustenance, music remains his principal passion. With his debut project released and an unwavering determination to grow, he expressed optimism for future opportunities:
“I’m just getting started and I believe the right doors will open at the right time. Until then, I’ll keep working hard and letting the music speak for itself.”#newsafro_
