The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has formally commenced an investigation into a viral video circulating on social media, which appears to depict the alleged harassment of a civilian by individuals believed to be police operatives.
This development was confirmed via an official statement issued on Friday, June 14, 2025, by Superintendent Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the Command, in Abuja.
According to SP Adeh, the male subject featured in the video—whose identity has yet to be verified—claims to have been subjected to harassment by personnel attached to the FCT Command.
Preliminary inquiries have established that the incident in question occurred on June 4, 2025, at approximately 13:00 hours, in the vicinity of Chikakore Bridge, within the jurisdiction of Kubwa Area Command.
At the time, a surveillance patrol unit from the Kubwa Division was engaged in routine operational activity when the altercation reportedly took place.
The Command has confirmed that further investigations are underway to:
Ascertain the identities of all parties involved,
Determine the precise circumstances surrounding the incident,
Assess compliance with operational procedures and the conduct of officers on duty.
