The Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability, Issifu Seidu, has assured the Muslim community of the government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.
Speaking on behalf of the government during the Eid-ul-Adha prayers organised by the Ahlussunna Muslim Community at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra yesterday, Mr. Seidu reiterated the administration’s dedication to supporting Muslims and efforts to reduce the cost of the Hajj pilgrimage.
“If the Muslim community continues to demonstrate devotion and sacrifice, the government will work towards reducing the cost of the Hajj pilgrimage to less than GH¢50,000 next year,” he said.
The minister also highlighted President Mahama’s strong commitment to the Muslim community, noting that the President highly values their advice and prayers for a better economy, development, and national prosperity.
Mr. Seidu further encouraged the Muslim community to maintain unity, solidarity, and strong relationships with religious groups, stressing that such cooperation is vital for the nation’s overall progress.

The event, attended by hundreds of Muslim faithful from across the capital, commemorated Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” which marks Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
Leading the prayers, the National Imam of Ahlussuna Wal Jamaa-Ghana, Sheikh Umar Ibrahim Imam, encouraged the Muslim community to live by Prophet Ibrahim’s example of selflessness and sacrifice. Sheikh Umar also called on Muslims to pray for peace, unity, and divine wisdom for the country’s leadership.
Distinguished guests at the event included former Vice-President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and his spouse, Samira Bawumia, as well as the former National Chairman of the Hajj Board, Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda.
In a symbolic act of sacrifice, a ram was offered during the prayers to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion.
The Office of the President donated GH¢50,000 to support the ceremony, while the offices of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former Vice-President contributed GH¢20,000.#newsafro_
