In observance of her daughter’s fourth birthday, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has published via Instagram what constitutes the most visually revealing image of Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor since the year 2022.
Historically, the Duchess has elected to preserve the minor child’s privacy by releasing images wherein the princess is either facing away from the camera or otherwise obscured. However, in the newly released photograph, Princess Lilibet is depicted with the upper portion of her face, including her eyes and forehead, clearly visible. The remainder of her face—specifically the nose, mouth, and lower features—remains concealed, as the Duchess is seen embracing her daughter in a protective gesture.
Princess Lilibet, born June 4, 2021, is seventh in the line of succession to the British throne.
In commemoration of the fourth birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has released two previously unseen images of the minor child, thereby offering an intimate glimpse of the young royal not publicly shared since June 2022.
The first image, rendered in black and white, captures the Duchess in a moment of affectionate embrace with the Princess, who is seated on her mother’s lap. Both appear to be outdoors in a windswept environment, with indications suggesting they are aboard a boat.
The second photograph, dating from 2021, depicts the Duchess engaged in a private maternal moment shortly after the Princess’s birth, holding the newborn in a skin-to-skin pose—an intimate scene conveying the early bond between mother and child.
The images were disseminated via social media at midnight local time, accompanied by a caption in which the Duchess stated:
“Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives — and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
It is noted that no official portrait of Princess Lilibet’s full visage has been issued by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since her first birthday, which was marked with a private picnic held at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, in June 2022.
Princess Lilibet, seventh in the line of succession to the British throne, was born on 4 June 2021 in Santa Barbara, California, following the Duke and Duchess’s withdrawal from formal royal duties and subsequent relocation to the United States. Her name honors Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname was “Lilibet.”#newsafro_
