Kanye West’s recent controversial remarks have resulted in his immediate dismissal by the Los Angeles-based talent agency 33 & West. The decision follows a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), in which West propagated antisemitic views and other offensive sentiments.
On Monday, Daniel McCartney, an agent at 33 & West, announced on his Instagram Stories that he could no longer represent West, citing the rapper’s harmful and hateful comments. McCartney’s post read: “Effective immediately, I am no longer representing YE (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his recent harmful and hateful remarks that myself nor 33 & West can stand for. Peace and love to all.”
The move comes as part of a broader backlash against West, whose recent behavior and statements have drawn widespread criticism from fans, industry professionals, and advocacy groups alike.
The timeline of Kanye West’s relationship with the talent agency 33 & West remains unclear, as the agency did not immediately disclose when they began working with the controversial artist. However, the agency’s decision to sever ties came after West unleashed a series of disturbing posts on X over the weekend.
Among the shocking statements was West’s admission to “hitting women before” and his defense of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ 2016 assault of ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, an incident which Combs himself has previously described as “inexcusable.”
Dailymail.com has reached out to representatives for McCartney, 33 & West, as well as West’s spokesperson, Milo Yiannopoulos, for further comment on the matter.
The decision by 33 & West to drop Kanye West has sparked widespread discussions on platforms like Reddit, particularly in the r/fauxmoi thread. Many users expressed that the agency’s decision to cut ties with West was long overdue, with some remarking that the move came “5 years too late.” Others pointed out the growing concerns surrounding West’s controversial behavior and statements, particularly his earlier antisemitic outbursts, which began with his meltdowns in 2022.
West’s history of troubling remarks is also being revisited by many. Some users reminded others of when he referred to himself as a “Nazi” years ago or his infamous “slavery is a choice” statement, which some feel was downplayed by his supporters at the time. Another user reflected on a chilling graffiti message, “Kanye was right about the Jews,” which they claimed has stayed with them since it first surfaced.
On top of the fallout from 33 & West’s split with the artist, West faced additional backlash on Tuesday when Shopify took down his Yeezy website shop. This action followed the sale of a white shirt emblazoned with a black swastika, which had been advertised during the Super Bowl with a high-profile ad. These developments continue to add fuel to the fire surrounding West’s already fractured public image.#newsafro_
