Honourable Alex Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has publicly apologized following an incident where he assaulted a Bolt driver delivering a package to his residence. Acknowledging the expectations placed upon him as a public official, Ikwechegh admitted that his actions were “unacceptable and unbecoming” of someone in his position.
In a statement issued on Monday, he expressed deep regret for the harm and embarrassment caused to the driver, Abuwatseya, his constituents, and the public. He emphasized his commitment to cooperate fully with the Nigerian Police in their investigation, pledging to support their efforts and maintain accountability.
“I recognize the trust placed in me by my constituents and the Nigerian people,” Ikwechegh stated. “My behaviour fell short of the standards expected of me, and for that, I am truly sorry.”
