Mariah Carey made a dazzling appearance at the Rock in Rio Festival in Brazil, wearing a bedazzled Brazilian flag dress. This performance comes just weeks after the heartbreaking losses of her mother and sister. Despite the challenges, Carey brought her signature sparkle to the event, captivating the audience with her vibrant style and powerful presence.
Mariah Carey sparkled as she took the stage at the Rock in Rio Festival, held at Cidade do Rock in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. The 55-year-old We Belong Together hitmaker delighted Brazilian fans with her headlining set, donning a bedazzled dress adorned with the national flag. The eye-catching ensemble, featuring vibrant green, blue, and yellow hues, was form-fitting and showcased a daring thigh-high side slit.
The singer, who recently experienced the loss of her mother and sister, accessorized her look with a chunky diamond bracelet and a butterfly ring, while her blonde tresses flowed down in loose curls.
Other performers at the festival included Shawn Mendes, 26, and Akon, 51.
Mariah was joined by a group of male backup dancers dressed in white tank tops and matching pants as she closed out the seven-day Brazilian festival, which attracts an impressive 100,000 fans each year. Just prior, she performed a sold-out show at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, which she described as “one of the best concerts ever.”
Carey is in Brazil with her 13-year-old fraternal twins, Moroccan and Monroe Cannon. The day before the festival, she treated them to dinner at the restaurant Aprazível in Rio de Janeiro, and they also took time to visit the iconic 125-foot tall Christ the Redeemer statue.
Mariah welcomed her twins during her six-year marriage to The Masked Singer producer-host Nick Cannon, which ended in 2016.
Her recent performance comes after the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Patricia Hickey, and her sister, Alison Carey Scott, who passed away on August 24 at ages 87 and 63, respectively. In an interview with People on August 27, the singer expressed that she was “heartbroken” over her mother’s death, noting, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”
