Billionaire Joe Lewis, the former owner of Tottenham Hotspur, has reportedly “taken over” a picturesque Devon town by parking his £250 million superyacht off the coast for nearly a month. The presence of the luxury vessel has drawn significant attention, effectively dominating the area and making a noticeable impact on the town’s usual scenery and atmosphere.
Billionaire Joe Lewis, the former owner of Tottenham Hotspur, has reportedly “taken over” a picturesque Devon town by anchoring his £250 million superyacht off the coast for nearly a month. The 322-foot custom-built yacht, which serves as a floating home for the private businessman—whose net worth is approximately $6.4 billion (£4.8 billion)—features luxurious onyx and marble interiors, an office, and even a padel tennis court. The yacht has been docked in Dartmouth since early August, having arrived from Troon, Scotland around August 5.
Local residents have expressed frustration over the long-term presence of Joe Lewis’s superyacht, describing it as “an absolute eyesore” and “totally out of place in beautiful Dartmouth.” The yacht, named Aviva, had not been seen in British waters for some time, as it was held as collateral by U.S. courts for over a year while Lewis faced insider trading conspiracy charges. In January, Lewis pleaded guilty to these charges, admitting to sharing insider information about publicly traded companies with several individuals.
