A young boy accidentally shattered a 3,500-year-old jar during a visit to the Hecht Museum in Haifa, Israel. The jar, dating back to the Bronze Age (between 2,200 and 1,500 BC), had been on display for 35 years before the four-year-old knocked it over on Friday. The jar was displayed near the museum’s entrance without protective glass, as museum administrators believe that displaying archaeological finds ‘without obstructions’ adds a ‘special charm,’ according to the BBC.
The boy’s father, Alex, stated that his son ‘pulled the jar slightly’ out of curiosity about what was inside, which led to it toppling over. He expressed his shock upon seeing his son next to the shattered jar, initially believing, ‘it wasn’t my child who did it.’
