Drake has publicly clarified the controversy surrounding his viral six-pack selfie, which gained widespread attention on June 28 amid accusations of digital manipulation.
During the premiere of Bobbi Althoff’s new podcast Not Again in Switzerland, the 38-year-old rapper directly addressed speculation that his physique was the result of plastic surgery, such as abdominal etching. He dismissed the claims, joking that critics have even nicknamed him “BBL Drizzy” following Metro Boomin’s AI-generated diss track of the same name.
Explaining the photo, Drake admitted that while the abs were real, he did enhance the image slightly: “Maybe I went on Facetune and put details up. Sorry, just being honest. I hit it too hard.” He confirmed that the editing exaggerated his appearance, telling Althoff that his stomach does not look like that in reality.
The Grammy winner avoided disclosing his current workout regimen but has previously shared modest running stats. His history with body-image speculation has also been amplified by rival Kendrick Lamar, who last year used a prescription for the weight-loss drug Ozempic—allegedly issued under Drake’s legal name—as cover art for his diss track Meet the Grahams.
Most recently, Drake escalated their feud by filing a lawsuit against Universal Music Group, accusing the label of using bots and payola schemes to inflate streaming numbers for Lamar’s hit Not Like Us.
Kendrick Lamar has intensified his feud with Drake by releasing a total of five diss tracks—including Euphoria and 6:16 in LA—in which he levels accusations ranging from pedophilia to fathering an undisclosed 11-year-old daughter.
Meanwhile, Drake remains focused on his professional obligations. Alongside PartyNextDoor, he is slated to continue their 37-date co-headlining Some Special Shows 4 U Tour, with upcoming performances at the Accor Arena in Paris this Sunday and Monday. As a result, Drake will not attend this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, where he is nominated in the Best Hip-Hop category for his single Nokia. His competition includes Lamar’s Not Like Us, as well as tracks from Doechii, Travis Scott, Eminem (with Jelly Roll), LL Cool J (with Eminem), and GloRilla (with Sexyy Red).
Beyond music, Drake also serves as executive producer for the forthcoming third season of Euphoria, Sam Levinson’s critically acclaimed HBO Max drama, scheduled to premiere next year.
On a personal note, Drake will celebrate his son Adonis Mahbed Graham’s eighth birthday on October 11, together with the child’s mother, French painter Sophie Brussaux. Adonis, who recently began third grade, was initially kept out of the public eye, with Drake only acknowledging his paternity in 2018 through the song Emotionless, when the child was already eight months old.#newsafro_
