Taylor Swift is celebrating a major chart milestone after earning her 14th number-one single this week.
The 36-year-old superstar took to Instagram to mark the achievement, revealing that it has been more than a decade since she last had two singles from the same album reach the top of the charts. Following the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, last October, Swift has now tied with Rihanna for third place among artists with the most No. 1 singles.
The all-time record on the Billboard Hot 100 remains held by The Beatles with 20 chart-toppers, followed closely by Mariah Carey with 19.
From The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s single The Fate of Ophelia topped the Billboard Global 200 and went on to become the longest-running No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. After the release of the music video for Opalite, the track surged to No. 1 on the Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Global 200.
To commemorate the milestone, Swift shared behind-the-scenes clips from the early recording and production sessions of the song alongside longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. She also posted footage from the making of the Opalite music video, where she sported a brown wig and an ’80s-inspired Jazzercise-style outfit.
The star-studded video featured appearances from Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and Cillian Murphy, all of whom had previously appeared alongside Swift on The Graham Norton Show. Host Graham Norton also made a cameo in the ’90s infomercial-inspired visual.
In her celebratory post, Swift expressed heartfelt gratitude to her fans, writing that it was the first time since her 2014 album 1989 that she had achieved two Hot 100 No. 1 singles from the same project. At that time, three tracks — including Shake It Off, Blank Space, and Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar — topped the charts.
“I can’t even sum up my excitement,” Swift wrote, thanking fans for embracing the song and video. “Seriously bouncing off the walls about this!! Just wanted to say THANK YOU.”
The milestone arrives amid continued public interest in Swift’s personal life, including reports surrounding her relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce and developments involving her former partner Matty Healy.
With 14 number-one singles to her name and counting, Swift’s latest achievement further solidifies her standing among the most successful artists in Billboard history.#newsafro_
