Professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova, a featured performer on the BBC program Strictly Come Dancing, was reportedly conveyed to a medical facility on Tuesday following an incident during rehearsals.
According to reports, Ms. Bychkova was engaged in training activities in North London when she allegedly sustained a back injury, resulting in acute pain. Production staff on site immediately contacted emergency medical services. An ambulance attended the scene, and Ms. Bychkova was subsequently removed via stretcher.
An unidentified source informed The Mirror that the incident “appeared severe” and that, in the interest of safety, the Strictly production team acted without delay. A spokesperson for the program stated:
“As a precautionary measure, following a fall during rehearsals, Ms. Bychkova was transported to hospital for evaluation and is receiving comprehensive assistance from the medical and welfare teams. Rehearsals are continuing, and the Strictly production team remains in close contact with Ms. Bychkova.”
It was further reported that Ms. Bychkova was discharged from the hospital later that same afternoon.
A representative of the London Ambulance Service confirmed:
“We were called at 12:37 p.m. on Tuesday, 12 August, to reports of an incident at Regent’s Park Road, NW1. We dispatched an ambulance crew to the location and treated one individual prior to their conveyance to hospital.”
The Daily Mail has sought comment from Ms. Bychkova’s representatives and from the producers of Strictly Come Dancing.
This development coincides with the announcement of the sixth celebrity participant in Strictly Come Dancing 2025: Mr. George Clarke, also known professionally as “George Clarkey,” a British YouTuber, podcaster, and social media personality with a substantial online following.
Mr. Clarke, who commenced creating video content during his adolescence, has since amassed millions of followers across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. He co-hosts The Useless Hotline Podcast, which has achieved sufficient popularity to generate a series of live shows throughout the United Kingdom.
Upon confirmation of his participation, Mr. Clarke stated:
“Never thought I’d say this… but I’m doing Strictly! Honestly, I’ve got no idea what I’m doing, but I’m excited to get involved… and potentially fall over a fair bit.”
The announcement was made public on BBC Radio 1’s Going Home Drivetime Show earlier today.
Mr. George Clarke, professionally known as “George Clarkey,” has cultivated a substantial social media presence, including approximately 152 million followers on TikTok and 679,000 followers on Instagram. He frequently collaborates with fellow content creator Mr. Max Balegde, with whom he co-hosts a joint podcast.
Earlier the same day, it was publicly announced that Ms. Balvinder Sopal, aged 46 and known for her portrayal of the character Suki Panesar in the BBC television program EastEnders, would participate as the fifth confirmed contestant in the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 series. The announcement was made live on the ITV program Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning.
Ms. Sopal joins a roster that already includes a previous Love Island winner, a Doctor Who actor, and a retired professional footballer, each of whom had been previously confirmed as contestants.
In a public statement, Ms. Sopal expressed her enthusiasm, stating:
“Being on Strictly is a dream that I have long cherished, despite having no certainty it would ever occur. Working on EastEnders and now joining Strictly Come Dancing truly represents the fulfillment of a dream. I am too excited to fully articulate my feelings but am immensely eager at the prospect of performing in the ballroom.”
Speaking to presenter Mr. Richard Arnold from the set of EastEnders, Ms. Sopal further disclosed that she has engaged in limited dance activities in the past, but remains uncertain as to her proficiency once she appears on the program’s dance floor.#newsafro_
