Christian singer Stacie Orrico has filed a lawsuit against her former manager, Britt Ham, and Universal Music Group (UMG), alleging sexual abuse beginning when she was 14. According to legal filings reviewed by the Daily Mail, Orrico claims Ham began fondling her during Bible study sessions, escalating over time, and pressured her to keep the abuse secret to preserve her religious image.
Orrico alleges multiple instances of sexual abuse, including inappropriate touching and sexual intercourse when she was 17. She claims that music executives at EMI (later acquired by UMG) failed to take action to protect her, allowing the abuse to continue. Orrico ended her professional relationship with Ham in 2004 and later left ForeFront and Virgin Records in 2007, citing the impact of these experiences on her career.
The singer says the abuse caused long-term trauma, including anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. Her attorneys described the lawsuit as a fight to hold the industry accountable for prioritizing profit over the safety of a minor and to give a voice to other young artists who were similarly exploited.
Orrico stated, “It has taken me years to become strong enough – but I am ready to fight for every young and innocent person who has been, and continues to be, abused in the music industry and in the Church.”
