Rachel Dolezal, who now goes by Nkechi Amare Diallo and identifies as trans-black, recently revealed she had a melanoma removed from her lower back, a result she attributes to years of sunbathing to darken her skin. In an Instagram post, the 48-year-old described the surgery as a “tough but grounding reminder” of the risks of overexposure to the sun, especially growing up in a family that didn’t prioritize sunscreen.
To maintain her signature glow without sun damage, Dolezal said she’s turned to ingestible tanning drops containing carotene, a pigment found in carrots and sweet potatoes that can give skin an orange tint.
Since her 2015 exposure as a race faker, the former NAACP leader has faced professional setbacks, including losing a job as an after-school instructor in Arizona after her OnlyFans side hustle became public. Her OnlyFans, launched in 2021, originally focused on foot photos, hair tutorials, and fitness content, but later included more explicit material. Dolezal is now training with the Sexology Institute to become a certified sex coach, calling the program “rigorous” and “academic.”
Over the years, Dolezal has worked to tell her story through a Netflix documentary, The Rachel Divide, her memoir In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World, and her podcast TradPro. The show focuses on progressive individuals who pursue traditional lifestyles, aiming to normalize roles like homemaking and caregiving for cis women, trans women, femme men, and anyone who finds purpose in those paths.
This latest health scare serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of over-tanning, even as Dolezal continues to navigate a complex personal and public life.#newsafro_
