Reality television personality and Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as “Phyna,” has issued a heartfelt public statement honoring the memory of her late sister, Ruth Otabor, while simultaneously celebrating Ruth’s child on the occasion of the child’s sixth birthday.
In a detailed message shared via her official Instagram account on Thursday, Ms. Otabor described her sister not merely as a sibling, but as a confidant, protector, and enduring source of strength. She emphasized Ruth’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support, noting that her laughter and presence left an indelible imprint on all who knew her.
Reflecting on her personal grief, Ms. Otabor stated that while Ruth’s passing created an irreplaceable void, the love shared between them continues to shape and inspire her daily life. She expressed that her sister’s memory remains permanently woven into her journey and legacy.
Turning to her late sister’s child, who marked a sixth birthday on the same day, Ms. Otabor offered celebratory words, describing the child as a “bright, growing star” who carries forward a piece of Ruth’s light. She extended prayers and best wishes for the child’s future, highlighting the importance of family, resilience, and love.
Ms. Otabor also used the occasion to reflect on her personal journey since winning the Big Brother Naija “Level Up” edition in 2022. She acknowledged the steadfast support of her fan base, describing them as an extension of her family, and expressed gratitude for their loyalty through both triumphs and challenges.
This tribute follows the recent burial of Ruth Otabor, who passed away in August 2025 due to complications arising from a vehicular accident involving a truck reportedly linked to the Dangote Group. Ruth was laid to rest on September 13, 2025, in Ogun State.#newsafro_
