American online content creator Darren Jason Watkins Jr., professionally known as iShowSpeed, conducted a livestreamed visit to Lagos, Nigeria, on Wednesday as part of his ongoing Africa tour, Speed Does Africa. The 21-year-old YouTuber’s activities in Lagos drew significant public attention and generated widespread online engagement across social media platforms.
Watkins arrived in Lagos as part of a 28-day tour covering 20 African countries, which commenced in Angola on December 29, 2025. The tour is being broadcast in real time via YouTube and Twitch, emphasizing cultural engagement, public interactions, and fan participation.
During the Lagos broadcast, large crowds of residents and onlookers gathered along his route, prompting intervention by his security team to ensure public safety. Multiple interactions with members of the public, including traders, youths, and local content creators, were captured live, highlighting both the spontaneity and security considerations of livestreaming in densely populated urban areas.
