The daughters of acclaimed singer-songwriter Michael Bolton have provided a favorable update regarding his health status amid his ongoing treatment for glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Mr Bolton, aged 72, was diagnosed with the condition approximately two years ago. In a video published by AARP.org on Thursday, his daughters—Isa, Taryn, and Holly—addressed his current condition more than a year after he underwent two surgical procedures and extensive medical treatment aimed at removing a brain tumor.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Isa Bolton stated that they were pleased to inform those who have followed their father’s medical journey that he remains in good spirits and generally good health. She acknowledged that while he continues to face significant challenges, his overall strength, mobility, and cognitive function have remained encouraging, notwithstanding the presence of both positive and difficult days.
The update follows Mr Bolton’s earlier public disclosure concerning his diagnosis, which he received in late 2023. Glioblastoma is a cancer originating in the brain or spinal cord, characterized by rapid growth and the capacity to invade healthy tissue.
During the interview, Isa and Taryn Bolton explained that care-giving responsibilities are shared among the three sisters, each contributing in distinct capacities. These include overseeing daily medical and personal care, providing emotional support and companionship, and managing ongoing professional and business-related matters on their father’s behalf.
The sisters candidly acknowledged experiencing caregiver fatigue, describing the role as emotionally and physically demanding. They emphasized the importance of self-care in order to sustain their ability to support a loved one undergoing serious illness.
Despite the challenges presented by Mr Bolton’s diagnosis, the family expressed gratitude for the opportunity to spend increased time together, noting that his pause from professional engagements has allowed for more frequent shared meals and family interactions. Mr Bolton resides in Westport, Connecticut, with close proximity to his three daughters and six grandchildren.
Mr Bolton also issued a personal statement expressing appreciation for his daughters’ unwavering support, noting that the past year has tested him in unforeseen ways and that their presence has provided stability and reassurance.
Earlier disclosures by the family indicated that Mr Bolton sought medical evaluation after experiencing unusual symptoms in late 2023, which ultimately led to emergency brain surgery in December of that year. A subsequent procedure was performed in January 2024 due to an infection, and by October 2024 he had completed multiple rounds of radiation and chemotherapy.
Mr Bolton has since reported that his most recent MRI scan showed no evidence of active disease, though he continues to undergo regular monitoring due to the high recurrence rate associated with glioblastoma.#newsafro_
