Nigerian rapper and producer Jesse Abaga, professionally known as Jesse Jagz, generated significant online discussion after a video surfaced in which he appeared visibly distressed while expressing support for singer 2Baba amid the latter’s ongoing controversies.
In the outdoor video, Jagz, who seemed intoxicated and was holding a cigarette, repeatedly directed sharp remarks at broadcaster Daddy Freeze, demanding that he defend 2Baba. He further alleged that 2Baba “married a wicked woman,” while stating he intended to travel from Jos to Abuja to “remove 2Baba so he can relax.”
Following the live-stream, Daddy Freeze shared a statement on Instagram expressing concern: “I am truly worried about this generation. Stay safe, guys, and avoid drugs and all mind-altering substances.”
Jesse Jagz—brother to rapper M.I Abaga—rose to prominence after signing with Chocolate City in 2010, releasing his debut album Jag of All Tradez before establishing his independent label, Jagz Nation. He later returned briefly to Chocolate City for his 2017 album Odysseus. His most recent major release was the 2020 EP Garba.
The viral video prompted widespread concern from fans regarding the rapper’s well-being. Social media users questioned his state of mind and urged close associates to intervene, while some criticized Daddy Freeze for continuing the live session despite Jagz’s apparent condition. Others, however, argued that Jagz was simply venting among acquaintances.#newsafro_
