Charlotte Dawson has refuted circulating claims that she has ended her engagement to Matt Sarsfield, following reports that the pair had separated after an alleged dispute at the launch event for her tanning brand on Thursday evening. Dawson was seen publicly in Manchester on Friday, marking her first appearance since the rumors emerged.
Despite media speculation, Dawson – who shares three children with Sarsfield (Noah, aged four; Jude, aged two; and Gigi, aged six months) – issued a statement via her Instagram account affirming that the relationship remains intact. She posted a photograph taken with Sarsfield and stated: “It’s not true, we are still together. We even got matching tattoos of Noah, Jude, and Gigi, and are proud of our launch last night.” In a subsequent Instagram Story, she informed followers that she had experienced “the worst week ever” and had lost her voice due to extensive speaking at the launch event.
Dawson clarified: “We are not split. We held our launch party last night for the lip kits. We intended to launch the perfume sets as well, but Matthew did not upload them to the website in time.” She added that she was exhausted and intended to rest.
Earlier on Friday, Dawson had been photographed in Manchester with friend and model Alex Gerrard. She was dressed in a red velvet blazer-style dress with structured shoulders, complemented by stiletto heels and an updo hairstyle.
Although Dawson and Sarsfield have been in a relationship for eight years, reports alleged that the couple had separated after a dispute at Thursday’s event. It was further claimed that Sarsfield left the venue and blocked Dawson on WhatsApp, resulting in no communication between the pair. A source quoted by The Sun stated that the separation was “for good,” adding that Dawson was distressed by the situation.
Dawson has previously acknowledged that the relationship had been strained, particularly following an incident in August the prior year involving Sarsfield’s inappropriate electronic communications with another woman. She had expressed that lack of routine in caring for their son Noah and limited private time had contributed to difficulties. Nonetheless, shortly after public disclosure of the incident, Dawson announced her pregnancy with their third child.
She later stated that the couple were managing the situation “one day at a time,” noting that the past year had been emotionally challenging. She explained that her podcast served as a platform to address the matter openly due to widespread public discussion.
Sarsfield, a former professional rugby player for the Swinton Lions, previously appeared with Dawson on Celebs Go Dating as they worked to resolve relationship issues. Although they separated following their appearance, the couple later reconciled, and Sarsfield proposed in September 2020 near a statue of Dawson’s late father, Les Dawson, in Lytham, Lancashire.#newsafro_
