Actress Annie Macaulay, the estranged spouse of Afrobeats musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, has issued a series of ambiguous statements on her Instagram account following the circulation of a video depicting the singer engaged in a public confrontation in London.
Shortly after the footage surfaced—showing 2Baba involved in an altercation that concluded with law enforcement officers escorting him away—Macaulay updated her Instagram Stories on Monday with several posts widely interpreted as indirect responses to the incident.
In one such post, she stated: “Sometimes, trying to prove that you are the best is an insult.”
She also shared an illustration of burning matchsticks, with one match pulled aside to prevent the spread of the flame. The accompanying text read: “The power of stepping away.”
These posts appeared hours after 2Baba made a brief appearance on an Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze. During the broadcast, two former associates of the singer’s management team—Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan—alleged that the singer’s current wife, Natasha Osawaru, exercises undue influence over his personal and professional affairs.
As the discussion continued, 2Baba joined the live-stream and demanded that both individuals refrain from commenting on his private life. Shortly thereafter, viewers observed a physical disturbance occurring off-camera, during which Osawaru appeared to be restraining him.
The events have renewed public interest in the couple’s circumstances. Earlier in the year, 2Baba publicly confirmed his separation from Macaulay. He subsequently proposed to Osawaru in February and married her in July, developments that have continued to attract widespread media attention.
The emergence of the latest video, along with Macaulay’s subsequent online posts, has further intensified ongoing public discourse regarding the singer’s personal relationships and the controversies surrounding them.#newsafro_
