TikTok personality Tineke “Tini” Younger has publicly disclosed the loss of one of her twin daughters following a medical complication identified as placental abruption.
The 24-year-old content creator issued a statement on Instagram and Facebook on Wednesday, expressing profound grief over the passing of her daughter, Arya. Younger—who married Antoine Wright Jr. in November 2024—had announced her twin pregnancy in June.
In her statement, Younger explained that although the pregnancy progressed to nearly 36 weeks, an unexpected placental abruption occurred, resulting in the loss of Baby A. She further noted that her surviving daughter is stable and breathing independently.
Citing guidance from the Mayo Clinic, she referenced that placental abruption involves the partial or complete separation of the placenta from the uterine wall before delivery, a condition that can compromise the baby’s access to oxygen and nutrients and may pose significant risks to the mother.
Younger affirmed that Arya would continue to be honoured within their family and that her surviving daughter would be raised with knowledge of her twin sister. She also announced a temporary withdrawal from social media to focus on her family.
The couple shared black-and-white photographs, including an image of Younger and her husband holding Arya.
Younger originally announced her pregnancy through a cooking-themed video captioned “Putting a bun(s) in the oven,” followed by additional posts confirming that the couple were expecting twin girls. In October, she described the pregnancy as progressing well and spoke about anticipated family plans.#newsafro_
