Media personality Toke Makinwa, who gave birth to her first child, Yakira Eliana, in August 2025, recently held a dedication ceremony for her daughter at The Logic Church, located in Lekki, Lagos.
Ms. Makinwa attended the service dressed in a customized white gown alongside her daughter. She arrived at the church in a black Rolls-Royce and was accompanied by a gathering of friends and family. Following the church service, a reception was held at the Landmark Event Center to commemorate the dedication.
During the reception, Ms. Makinwa wore a pink Tubo-designed dress and participated in celebratory dancing. Notably, she shared an emotional dance with singer Tiwa Savage, and also danced with other attendees, including close associate Farouk Umar.
The post-dedication media coverage prompted public discussion, with some speculation regarding Mr. Umar’s relationship to the child, while others acknowledged his support for Ms. Makinwa.
In remarks made at the reception, Ms. Makinwa expressed gratitude for the new phase of her life, noting that her daughter had given her a renewed sense of identity. The ceremony coincided with an early celebration of Ms. Makinwa’s birthday on November 3, during which guests performed a birthday song in her honor.
