Popular Nollywood actor, Mr. Ibrahim Chatta, has announced the passing of his son.
The 54-year-old actor disclosed the development via his verified Instagram page on Saturday, though he did not provide details regarding the circumstances of the child’s death. Sharing a photograph of the deceased, Chatta wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
Following the announcement, colleagues and admirers of the actor flooded his social media page with condolence messages.
This bereavement comes only days after veteran actress, Peju Ogunmola, similarly lost her only son, Ayomikun, in Ibadan. The two tragedies have plunged the Nollywood industry into a period of mourning, with widespread expressions of sympathy and grief.
It is not the first time Mr. Chatta has experienced such a personal tragedy. In June, he publicly recounted the loss of his first child, a daughter, attributing her death to financial hardship and lack of adequate medical care at the time. He recalled that, unable to afford a coffin, he was compelled to inter his daughter in a wooden Coca-Cola crate.#newsafro_
