Claudia Lonow, known for her role in Knots Landing, was observed in Los Angeles on Tuesday attending to personal tasks.
The 62-year-old actress was seen working outdoors with a laptop computer, accompanied by a Starbucks beverage. Her focus appeared to be directed toward the screen of her laptop, which was decorated with various stickers.
Ms. Lonow has maintained a lengthy career in the entertainment industry, beginning with an appearance on The Mary Tyler Moore Hour and later securing a role on the soap opera Knots Landing—a long-running television serial depicting middle-class life on the fictional Seaview Circle in Los Angeles, California.
In the long-running drama series Knots Landing, Ms. Lonow portrayed the character Diana Fairgate from 1979 through 1993.
During her recent public appearance, she appeared markedly different from her earlier on-screen role, as she was observed working on her laptop. Although it has been decades since the conclusion of her time on the series, Ms. Lonow has remained professionally active in the entertainment industry. In 2023, she was reported by Deadline to be developing a project entitled Boss, said to be inspired by her own life. The present status of that project is not publicly known; however, Ms. Lonow recently directed D(E)AD, a dark family comedy that premiered at the Dynasty Typewriter theater in Los Angeles.
It is possible that her recent work session pertained to additional forthcoming projects.
For the outing, she adopted a casual appearance, wearing a denim jacket, loose brown trousers, and sandals, and carrying a black backpack. She accessorized with her signature black-rimmed glasses.
In June, Ms. Lonow participated in the Hollywood Show alongside fellow Knots Landing cast members Tonya Crow and Paul Carafotes, where she reflected on experiences from the production. In remarks published by Remind Magazine, she recalled being instructed “Mirrors down, ladies” prior to filming. She noted that many cast members kept hand mirrors hidden nearby on set, explaining that upon the director calling “cut,” she and others—including co-star Michele Lee—would discreetly check their appearance while awaiting the arrival of the hair and makeup team. She added that Ms. Lee’s father had been a professional makeup artist, which contributed to her particular attentiveness to makeup and lighting.
Decades after her role on Knots Landing, Claudia Lonow has continued to maintain an active presence within the entertainment industry.
Her professional portfolio, as reflected on IMDb, includes credits as a writer for Friends with Benefits and Cashmere Mafia, along with acting appearances in Beverly Hills, 90210, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, among others.
Elements of Ms. Lonow’s personal life have also informed her creative work. In addition to developing Boss, she created the 2013 semi-autobiographical television series How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life), which aired for five episodes. The series, based in part on her own experiences, centered on a woman who returns to live with her parents.

In a 2012 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ms. Lonow explained that the television series was drawn extensively from her own lived experience. She stated: “Everything is based in reality. It’s unbelievable, I know. It started out as just sort of like a life crisis situation and now it’s a crazy thing that I just can’t seem to get out of.”
She further remarked that she had devoted significant time to developing the project: “I’ve been thinking about the show and talking about the show and pitching the show for years. Literally, I’ve spent the past 10 years amassing stories and working on the pilot, and it’s been placed at places [on cable]. I’ve been obsessed.”
Addressing the broader cultural context, Ms. Lonow added: “I’d read about these new shows coming out about the people who move in with their parents and I’d be like, ‘Wait, I should be the one who’s doing this because I’m the one who is actually living with my parents.
