Veteran Nollywood actor, Clem Ohameze, has categorically denied recent viral reports circulated on social media alleging that he has been battling a stroke for over two decades and has been abandoned by his children.
In a video statement released on Saturday, Mr. Ohameze dismissed the claims as “fabricated and malicious,” clarifying that the purported quotations attributed to him were entirely fictitious. The actor emphasized that no such interview was ever granted and expressly repudiated the false narrative.
According to the fabricated report, the 60-year-old was purportedly quoted as lamenting that his three sons had abandoned him while only his daughter remained committed to his care. Mr. Ohameze has since clarified that these statements were contrived and bear no connection to his actual circumstances.
Mr. Ohameze confirmed that he has lodged a formal complaint with law enforcement authorities and has alerted both the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS). He characterized the publication as a clear instance of cybercrime, designed to defame his reputation and exploit his name for traffic and undue popularity.
“It has taken me years of work to build my life and career, and I will not allow anyone to destroy it with reckless lies,” he stated. “The previous time, they declared me dead. Now, they allege I am incapacitated. This is not only defamatory but also cruel. Before publishing such damaging claims, why not verify with me directly?”
He further noted that the false publication has already caused distress to his family, particularly his children, underscoring the emotional harm and reputational damage arising from such fabrications.
Mr. Ohameze reiterated his commitment to pursue appropriate legal remedies against the originator of the report and cautioned social media users against spreading unverified information that undermines personal dignity and public trust.#newsafro_
