Ms. Jennifer Lopez, aged 56, maintained her composure and professionalism during a live performance in Warsaw on Friday, despite experiencing a minor wardrobe malfunction. The performer, who recently parted ways with her record label, was in the midst of a costume change when she was summoned back to the stage so that the audience could sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.
At the time, Ms. Lopez—currently touring as part of her Up All Night: Live in 2025 series—was dressed in a gold sequined triangle bikini top and adjusting a matching gold fringe skirt. A backup dancer assisted in securing the garment, which initially appeared to hold, albeit only momentarily.
As Ms. Lopez proceeded across the stage, expressing her gratitude by stating, ‘Thank you, Warsaw,’ the unsecured garment unexpectedly fell to the floor. Although visibly surprised momentarily, she swiftly regained her composure and continued her stage presence with confidence, walking across the platform in her high-waisted gold lamé bottoms and sequined boots, effectively transforming the moment into a poised display of professionalism.
During the incident, Ms. Lopez made a second attempt—assisted by a backup dancer—to reattach the skirt as members of her team commenced a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Happy Birthday.’ Notably, the song was originally composed by Mr. Wonder as part of a campaign advocating for a national holiday in honor of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Ms. Lopez, known for her hit Jenny from the Block, was seen laughing as her assistant continued to struggle with fastening the garment’s hooks. Upon the song’s conclusion, she removed the skirt and tossed it into the audience.
The recipient was told, ‘You can keep it. I don’t want it back.’
Commenting on the incident, the MTV Video Music Award recipient stated, ‘I’m glad they reinforced that costume,’ and added humorously, ‘I’m glad I had underwear on,’ acknowledging that she does not typically wear undergarments.
Following the performance, fans who viewed the video on YouTube expressed admiration and well-wishes for the Billboard Icon Award honoree.#newsafro_
