Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron commanded attention on the red carpet at the premiere of The Old Guard 2, held at the Netflix Tudum Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday evening.
Approaching her 50th birthday this August, Ms. Theron exhibited her statuesque 5-foot-10 frame in an audacious ensemble—a black fishnet turtleneck catsuit sourced from Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, prominently featuring the label’s insignia: “Givenchy Paris 1952.”
Beneath the semi-sheer garment, she revealed a coordinated black brassiere and high-waisted undergarment, complementing the look with a structured tuxedo blazer and square-toed ankle boots. The ensemble was curated in collaboration with her long-time stylist, Leslie Fremar, exemplifying a sophisticated yet provocative aesthetic aligned with Theron’s high-fashion reputation.
For the occasion, renowned hairstylist Adir Abergel styled Ms. Theron’s signature short blonde bob into a sophisticated double-ponytail updo, lending an elevated and dynamic flair to the small-screen premiere event.
Complementing the hairstyle, make-up artist Kate Lee accentuated the actress’s natural features—emphasizing her refined, slender eyebrows and pronounced cheekbones—while applying a subtle nude shade to her lips, achieving a polished and understated glamour.
Ms. Theron’s co-stars—including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Marwan Kenzari, KiKi Layne, Henry Golding, and Uma Thurman—were visibly entertained and impressed as she confidently showcased her ensemble before them on the red carpet.
Upon Ms. Theron’s approach to the end of the receiving line, Ms. Thurman extended an enthusiastic greeting.
The motion picture The Old Guard 2 represents the first professional collaboration between Ms. Charlize Theron and Ms. Uma Thurman—both recipients of Golden Globe Awards—which occurred during the filming of a pivotal combat sequence involving no fewer than four helicopters.
During a June 24 appearance on The View, Ms. Theron publicly praised her co-star, stating: “The great Uma Thurman! She’s a legend.” She further remarked, “By the time Uma and I were finally able to work together on set, the experience was extraordinary—everything we had envisioned and more. In my view, she is truly one of the greats. I’ve admired her work in every film she has done.”
In the forthcoming Netflix sequel, scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2025, Ms. Theron reprises her role as Andromache “Andy” of Scythia, an immortal warrior aged 6,732 years, while Ms. Thurman assumes the role of Discord, the film’s principal antagonist.
In addition to her leading role, Ms. Theron served as an executive producer on the production, which is directed by Ms. Victoria Mahoney and based upon Mr. Greg Rucka’s 2017 graphic novel. Principal photography concluded in 2022.
For the occasion, Ms. Thurman, aged 55 and an Academy Award nominee, appeared attired in a sleeveless, Nehru-collared beige top coordinated with a matching floor-length skirt and strappy sandals. She complemented her ensemble with jewelry provided by Fred Leighton.
Ms. Thurman appeared visibly pleased to be reacquainted with The Old Guard 2 director, Ms. Victoria Mahoney, who greeted her with an embrace. Ms. Mahoney was attired in a black-and-white wrap dress featuring floral detailing.
Subsequently, Ms. Thurman proceeded toward Ms. Charlize Theron, who at the time was adjusting the black feathered train on Ms. KiKi Layne’s gown.
Ms. Layne, aged 33, who reprises her role as the immortal warrior Nile Freeman, was observed wearing a strapless silver gown adorned with embellishments. The ensemble, selected by stylist Ms. Oretta Corbelli, featured a high slit revealing the actress’s thigh.
Mr. Henry Golding, portraying the character Tuah, appeared in a coordinated ensemble consisting of a baby-blue Nehru-collared shirt worn beneath a navy-blue double-breasted suit, complemented by dark Oxford shoes and an elegant wristwatch.
Mr. Chiwetel Ejiofor, in his role as James Copley, was dressed in a white Henley shirt layered under a matching white blazer, paired with black pleated trousers and black loafers.
Mr. Marwan Kenzari, portraying the character Joe (also known as Yusuf Al-Kaysani), wore a blue asymmetrical button-up shirt in combination with black wide-leg trousers and coordinated black footwear.#newsafro_
