Popular actor and political figure Mr. Femi Branch is currently the subject of multiple allegations, including an incident of alleged physical assault on a film set, as well as a longstanding unresolved debt exceeding a decade in duration.
The actor stands accused of having physically assaulted the First Assistant Director (AD) during a production shoot on June 18, 2025. While Mr. Branch is reported to have issued an apology to both the AD and the other members of the production crew, this apology was deemed insufficient by the broader film community.
Subsequently, a formal statement was disseminated by members of the film crew, which quickly garnered widespread public attention. The statement articulated:
“On 18 June 2025, during a production shoot, an actor, Femi Branch, physically assaulted the first Assistant Director on set.”
“Mr. Branch is alleged to have struck the First Assistant Director (1st AD) in the presence of multiple witnesses, thereby breaching not only established professional protocols but also fundamental standards of human decency.
In response to mounting pressure from the production crew and stakeholders, an assurance was given that a formal apology would be issued. Filming subsequently resumed under the direction of the 1st AD, and the actor is reported to have later offered an apology to both the 1st AD and the entire production crew.
We hereby commend the production team for its principled stance against all forms of workplace violence and for its unwavering commitment to maintaining a culture of mutual respect and professional integrity on set.”
A video currently circulating on social media platforms depicts Mr. Femi Branch in a visibly agitated state, being restrained from exiting the film set by members of the production crew. In the footage, Mr. Branch is audibly heard questioning the director, stating: “Did you bring me on set to embarrass me?”
Concurrently, a separate allegation surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) involving a financial dispute dating back to 2011. An individual identified as Pastor Timilehin publicly accused Mr. Branch of failing to repay a personal loan extended to him by Timilehin’s father, Mr. Tolulope Komolafe.
According to the public post, Mr. Branch purportedly obtained a loan of ₦1,000,000 in December 2011, with an agreed monthly interest of ₦50,000. It is further alleged that, due to non-payment over the years, the total outstanding balance has accrued to ₦9.7 million.
Pastor Timilehin stated:
“Dear @femibranch, you borrowed the sum of ₦1 million from Mr. Akin Tolulope Komolafe (my father) in 2011, with a monthly interest of ₦50,000. You have failed to repay the loan to date. The total accumulated sum is now ₦9.7 million. My father supported you during a time of need, and despite his numerous efforts to recover the debt, you have not fulfilled your financial obligation.
Let it be known that if my father does not recover the loan, I will pursue all lawful avenues to recover it from you or, if necessary, your legal successors.”
As part of the claim, Pastor Timilehin also published what he asserts to be a formal letter authored by Mr. Branch in December 2011, requesting the loan for the purpose of financing his film project titled Onile.#newsafro_
